HEW to Probe Fraud Under New Investigations Office

Washington AP Secretary David Klathens of HEW announced a new criminal investigation unit to ferret out fraud and abuse in HEW's $120 billion budget. The Office of Investigations will have about 1 investigators, drawing 18 from Social Security and 12 from headquarters, with more to be approved by Congress. The unit will focus on criminal misconduct by individuals, organizations or institutions receiving HEW funds.
