Airlines seek 2 percent surcharge to fund noise clean up
Air Transport Association proposes a two per cent surcharge on air tickets to finance the 6 to 8 billion dollar aircraft noise abatement program while reducing the current eight per cent aviation tax to six per cent. The plan faces opposition from the President's Council on Wage and Price Stability which warns it would amount to a federal subsidy for airlines.
