Adventurer Sails On After Crewman Quits At Sea
Noble, 61, and crewman Andrew Paldan, 18, Detroit, were rescued 660 miles off San Diego after four days adrift with a broken rudder on the Felix II. Paldan opted to quit. Noble stayed aboard, fixed the rudder, and resumed his world cruise toward Hawaii despite the setback.

Mass of searches fails to locate missing UC coed

The second largest passenger vessel in the U S fleet was set to sail with 945 passengers but halted after crew members refused to sail over alleged racial discrimination involving a ship officer. Family Told Pilot Died in U2 Crash
In Lagrange Georgia and Georgia family members said Air Force notified them that Capt. Joe G Hyde Jr died when the U 2 high level reconnaissance plane crashed in the Gulf of Mexico after a mission over Cuba. A Coast Guard cutter found the wreckage about 40 miles northwest of Key West Florida the day after.
