Long Beach officials announce Sept 30 extension for senior tax rebate forms for property tax renters' relief. Eligibility includes age 62+, California residency, and income caps up to 12 000 for 1976. renters and homeowners can gain larger refunds under new limits.
The Health Systems Agency SAC Four in Los Angeles County will meet at 7 30 pm in Sanz Beach City Council chambers open to the public. Robert Ki Campbell the new director will review the seating dispute on sub area councils and discuss countywide election procedures including the June 20 county vote challenged by officials from Torrance and Los Angeles City. The judge refused to overturn the election and ordered winners seated on sub area councils with representation from Long Beach and Santa Monica leaders.
Torrance City Council formalized an energy conservation program designating City Manager Edward J. Ferrara as coordinator to pursue state or federal grants. Building and Safety Director John J. McKinnon outlined existing practices and noted several uncoordinated state rules, with actions such as insulation inspections and reduced lighting and cooling use, smaller city vehicles, and potential solar heating studies.
Four new Long Beach city officials were confirmed by the City Council after appointments by City Manager John Dever. The fifth appointment, Randall Verrue as general manager of the Tidelands Agency, was not submitted for council approval.
The board ended a one year ban on motorcycles in most regional parks over objections by Supervisor Ralph B. Clark. Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley will admit cycles, while ONeill and Caspers remain off limits due to roadway design. The experiment may be reinstated if problems arise.

Long Beach City Council ordered a study to decide whether Willow Street should be closed to truck traffic after protests by trucking interests and indecision by the traffic engineer. An ordinance to ban trucks between Terminal Island Freeway and Long Beach Boulevard was delayed amid safety and environmental concerns raised by Councilwoman Eunice Sato.
The store promotes price tags on clothing from leading brands found in major fashion markets. Overruns from current lines are purchased to keep overhead low and pass discounts of 30 to 50 percent to customers. Stores are open seven days a week with evening hours weekdays.
