Cal'donia Song Sparks Memphis Roots and Stage Flair
The feature recalls Louis Jordan who first sang Caldonia in a Memphis barrelhouse called the Blue Light. He later created the tune and lyrics, gaining fame after years of performance at venues like Java Lane's East Indies Room. The piece notes his energetic sax acts and fellow musicians Reno Righi and Don Palmer. Also mentioned are ukulele artist King Nawahi headlining Cheries Can Can in Honolulu and Clyde Zutch's trio at Newporter Inn Newport Beach.
