Insomnia Linked to Sleep Apnea Findings At Stanford
Stanford University researchers report that about six of a group of insomniacs studied at the Sleep Disorders Clinic suffered sleep apnea. Episodes of breathing cessation lasting 20 to 150 seconds led to arousal and heavy awakenings, with up to 250 arousals per night. Doctors advise evaluating respiration during sleep rather than relying on sleeping pills.
