Long Beach History Notes from Early 1900s

Census figures from 1902 show 2252 residents in Long Beach. In 1897 bonds funded the first municipal pavilion on the beach front, later burning in 1909. A 1905 pavilion and convention hall stood near Pine Ave Pier with lumber floated in by steamer. After dedication, citizens protested gallery admission charges during dancing.
