Bank Clerk Charged With Embezzling 112000

A Macon Missouri bank clerk, 29 year old Mrs Kirks, was charged with embezzling 112000. She is reported hospitalized after a nervous breakdown amid the investigation. Her husband runs a service station. they own a Macon home and a Ozarks summer home with a yacht.

Long Beach Utility Property Valuations Cut by State Board

The State Board of Equalization set utility valuations for Long Beach at 62.4 million for county taxes and 73.1 million for city purposes, 17 percent higher than county values. Pasadena saw city assessments 43 percent higher than county valuations. Self assessing cities average 29 percent higher valuations than counties, with Long Beach not raising taxes as much as many California cities.
