Lindsay to name firms funded by mobs after bars killings
New York Mayor John V. Lindsay pledged to reveal firms financed by mobs after two meat company executives were shot dead in an Upper East Side restaurant bar. Police will aggressively enforce codes against infiltrated businesses. Deputy Commissioner William Carthy said a list exists and will be released with more verification. The violence follows a gang war that began last summer with alleged mob leader Joseph Colombo Sr and intensified with Crazy Joe Gallo's death.
