Treasure hunt dive abandoned for Andrea Doria salvage
In Fairhaven Massachusetts the perilous salvage of $2 million from the Andrea Doria ended due to extreme seas and danger. Divers recovered some items but could not access safes, citing a death trap interior and damaged structure. The operation cost about $250,000 and proved the saturation system works despite the failed mission.
