Smog board delays action on auto dealers and builders
The California Air Resources Board delayed action against 26 dealers and seven manufacturers for selling cars not meeting emission standards. A staff report based on 711 vehicles at 45 dealerships showed 28 percent exceeded limits. Penalties can reach 5000 dollars for manufacturers and license suspensions or revocation for dealers, with hearings possible. The board will revisit the issue next month after refining policies.
