Iran loan offer to Grumman tied to fighter plane program
UPI report says Iran proposed binding money to support Grumman Aerospace to keep production of 114 fighter planes on track. Rep. Otis G Pike notes the offer, made within six months, could exceed typical prefinancing. Senate blocked Navy aid up to 100 million for the Bethpage firm. Pike cites past State Department opposition to foreign financing deals and recalls a $500,000 ransom case. Mayor McCoy says relatives urged Richard McCoy to surrender after police loudspeakers were used.
