Dial-a-ride ruling hits Orange County transit plan
Santa Ana Superior Court Judge Mark Soden ruled the Orange County Transit District dial-a-ride program unfair competition to tax. The suit by Yellow Cab Co. invalidated a state law authorizing door to door minibuses begun in La Habra in 1972 and Orange in June. The district must abandon service or buy competing taxi firms within four months, leaving Westminster and Fullerton projects in doubt as 57 minibuses await delivery.
