Assembly committee approves body parts use for transplant research
Sacramento report states the Assembly Health and Welfare Committee approved a bill permitting parts of human bodies removed for autopsy to be used in transplants or for research. The panel sent the measure by Sen. Anthony Beilenson, Democrat Beverly Hills, to the floor after a party line vote.

His daughter Jemny, wheelchair-bound from near fatal injuries, testified via closed door at the hospital.
