FDA weighs ban on PVC plastic packaging
The FDA may ban certain plastic food packages and research vinyl PVC pipes in homes due to potential cancer risks. A three tier plan could restrict PVC use, cap limits at 51 parts per million, and initially address water pipes before broader packaging rules. Warnings follow Ralph Nader’sHealth Research Group push for a total packaging ban. The plan targets heavy bottles and rigid lunch meat wraps, while thin film wraps may be exempt.
