Los Angeles police failed to locate Gus ta ve Elsner known as the hermit of the Elysian Hills. The 83 year old man, arrested for vagrancy on July 25 and later released, resided in a cave 100 feet above the Pasadena Freeway. Police searched a mountainside as residents feared for safety.
