Port revenues decline prompt review of harbor costs
Harbor commissioners moved to re examine fire and police service fees as port revenue dropped 22.3 percent from last year. Commissioner James G. Craig Jr. said 1,197,000 paid for protection was nearly half the department income, while expenses rose 11.9 percent from 1969 70. Discussions questioned Navy benefits and costs for the Long Beach Naval Station, the Warrior cafeteria, and the Commodore Heim Bridge, with a push for state takeover prospects.
