California orders Pacific Telephone refunds amid rate dispute
The state Public Utilities Commission ordered Pacific Telephone to refund over 163 million dollars to subscribers, plus a three month free service perk for many. Half of single party residential customers receive about 17.29 dollars back, and business customers about 29.46, via future bill credits within 120 days.

GenTel officials say PUC action in the Pacific Telephone rate case may require refunds of 16 to 19 million dollars to subscribers in Central and Southern California.
