Delinquency Growth Report Highlights 200 Percent Rise
Senator Thomas J. Dodd testified before a Senate subcommittee that preliminary figures show juvenile court cases rising markedly over the past decade, with delinquency rates up about 200 percent. He cited a triple increase from the 4 percent growth in 1960s to push support for extending the Juvenile and Youth Offenses Control Act of 1961 and its demonstration and training projects in high delinquency communities nationwide.
