Limps 1000 Miles to Hawaii Pilot Explains

Major Samuel Tyson, a 70 year old veteran from Cornell Bluffs, piloted a C97 air transport 1000 miles over the Pacific with 67 aboard. Two engines failed beyond the point of no return from Travis AFB to Hicks AFB, but Tyson kept the craft aloft for 644 hours, landing in Hilo Hawaii.

Fireworks Plant Owner Dies in Blast
