Tragic boat sinking claims twelve aboard at Newport Beach
Twelve people were aboard when the craft veered and sank. Luther died on arrival at Hoag Memorial Hospital in Newport Beach. Wayne Cable, 24, of Paramount and William Arthur Rogers, 47, of Downey, drowned as the boat went down. Rogers’ body was recovered by Navy divers. Cable’s body remains missing as the search ends. A marine casualty inquiry will convene at Coast Guard District Headquarters in the Times Building, Broadway and Long Beach Blvd., at 9:30 a.m.
