Inmates End 11 Hour Leavenworth Siege After Talks
Two prisoners who held hostages for 11 hours at Leavenworth prison ended a two hour negotiating session with officials without clear demands. No guard was killed during the lunch hour disturbance though one guard later died. Prison quieted after the talks as meals returned, inmates confined to cells, and plans for normal routines discussed. The two mutineers charged food, medical care, and due process concerns, and alleged a haunted behavioral center used for brainwashing. Identified inmates were Harry Jones Hurst and Armando I.
