Mistrial declared in Lakewood bar shooting case
A mistrial was declared Thursday in the murder case of two former sheriff's deputies and a security guard in the June shooting death outside Hawk's Nest Bar in Lakewood. Jurors failed to reach a verdict after nine days of deliberations. Retrial motions set for May. Suspects are James J. Lally Bruce W. Newman and Steven G. Sharp. Garcia Edward Augie of Cypress died from a gunshot, Michael Tomaselli injured. Ballistics linked a Sharp bullet to the fatal shot. The district attorney signaled possible charge drops.
