$2.27 Billion Urged for Energy Conservation Plan
The House Appropriations Committee called for a $2.27 billion energy conservation program for the next fiscal year to fund research and development. The plan aims to save fuel and reduce dependence, with $1.5 billion for the Atomic Energy Commission and $572 million for the Interior Department. The bill includes a rollback on oil prices to 1973 levels and measures to limit foreign taxes passed to consumers, while preserving some auto emissions and coal plant exemptions.
