Officials called the gain a good sign for future performance despite mixed readings across components.
Getty Oil Co. will pay 40 million to acquire BP Oil Corp interests in Kern River unit lands and adjacent parcels in the San Joaquin Valley. The deal includes 18.2 percent net profits royalty, 1,268 acres in the unit, and 1,522 acres nearby. Closing is planned for May with payments in installments.
