Letters from Angela Davis Allowed in Marin Trial
A California judge ruled that three love letters from Angela Davis to George Jackson may be read to jurors as evidence in the Marin County courthouse escape case, but refused to allow witness testimony about a face to face meeting between the pair. The trial concerns kidnapping and conspiracy charges arising from the attempt to free Jackson. prosecutors argue the letters show Davis’s willingness to kill for his freedom, while defense contends they are irrelevant and prejudicial.
