Protests Grow Over U S Hydrogen Bomb Test Near Nevada
Las Vegas protests from citizens scientists labor groups and Howard Hughes backers urged delay of the hydrogen bomb test planned for Friday. The Nevada Site blast 6 am local time may vent a million tons of TNT and be felt 250 miles away. The AEC promises precautions and says no damage is expected while Hughes seeks a 90 day postponement citing potential water contamination and seismic risk.
