May 1960 Goal for Spaceman
Space medicine experts hope to launch a man into space from Cape Canaveral in May 1960. Two spokesmen in Los Angeles said the plan envisions scientists seeing the fruition of their efforts. Dr Ludwig G Lederer, president elect of the Aero Medical Association, noted the 1960 convention in Miami May 9 11 and suggested tying Cape Canaveral into the event. If successful a manned spaceflight could precede a primate blastoff from the Cape.
