Bailiffs merger proposed for courts in L A County
Legislation proposes giving the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors power to merge civil process and bailiff functions of the sheriff and marshal offices. The measure forecasts at least 3 million dollars in annual savings if consolidated, with duplication and waste cited as justification. Grand juries from 1968 to 1994 backed the consolidation. The bill leaves absorption to the supervisors.
