Tiny German antenna may replace TV rooftops
Washington reports the Air Force is testing a two to three ounce microcircuit device called the SIA or subminiature integrated antenna. Prototype models at Wright-Patterson AFB exceed specs and could reduce 100 to 500 pounds of weight on air and space systems. Commercial use could curb outside antennas and coaxial leads in homes. The SIA aims to cover UHF to ultra high frequency bands without precise station tuning.
