Irish universities to merge amid church split
Dublin reports government approval for merging Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin into one multi denominational university. Donagh O Malley notes state subsidies will end duplication, with about 11 500 students across both institutions and Trinity drawing 1 717 from the United Kingdom. Catholic bishops have not granted approval but are expected to lift a ban on Trinity attendance. Advertising copy included but unrelated.
