Uneven Medi-Cal funds for psychiatric care study
A California study found Medi-Cal psychiatric payments favor counties with many psychiatrists and fewer patients. Marin, San Francisco, Alameda, San Diego led over 100 percent of needed share. Lake County at 2 percent. Rural counties remained underfunded. Los Angeles under 100 percent. The system rewards urban doctors, not rural access, with calls for reform and more studies.
