Appraiser Reform Bill Killed In Senate Committee
A Senate Government Efficiency Committee in Sacramento killed the reform to remove politics from inheritance tax appraiser appointments. The proposal would mix self‑appraisal by survivors, civil service in tough cases, and occasional outside experts. The State Bar of California testimony was cut off, and the bill was rejected by voice vote. The state controller will decide after elections.
