Beach area stabbing case set for trial amid bail change
Five suspects in the Los Angeles stabbing spree, including Danny Edward Scott, were released by the sheriff due to insufficient evidence. In Long Beach Superior Court Judge Elsworth Beam lowered bail for Scott from 50 000 to 7 500 and set his trial date for May 24 on a murder charge arising from the March 10 death of Thomas Leroy Kong. Police say Kong was found near Scott’s former home after allegedly discovering him with his estranged wife.

Student arraigned on burglary count in Long Beach case
Harbor College student Jackie McGee, 20, San Pedro, was arraigned in Long Beach Superior Court on one burglary count tied to a March 16 break in at Licorice Pizza record store. Manslaughter case pushed to next week in Riverside
Judge Walter Sr. Binns gave a continuance until next Tuesday for the arraignment of El Karem Abdullah 23 of 1826 Cerritos Ave on a manslaughter charge. The Wilmington incident involves the death of Valerie Green 25 of Los Angeles in a three car crash on Henry Ford Boulevard near Terminal Island.
