Pollster Quayle Dies After Heart Attack at 52
Hanover New Brunswick AP reports pollster Oliver A Quayle died Sunday night at Mary Hitchcock Hospital after a heart attack at his home. He was 52. Quayle formed Oliver Quayle & Co in 1860 after earlier work with Eling Roper & Associates from 1953 to 19HK and Levis Harris & Associates from 1858 to 1960. The firm did surveys for former President Lyndon B Johnson in 1964 and for two 1968 Democratic contenders, Eugene McCarthy and Hubert H. Humphrey, then vice president. The firm also supplied information for NBC. Harpers Magazine, Inc acquired the firm in 1969, but Quayle remained.
