Big man in killings tied to UMW boss Boyle claim
Washington filings recount Annette Gilly’s 21 page statement linking the Yablonski killings to a “big man” in the United Mine Workers. Prosecutor Sprague says the statement climbs the union hierarchy and hints at further arrests. Boyle denies involvement as UMW lawyer calls the claim vague. Yablonski, his wife, and daughter were slain Jan 5 1970 as he prepared to testify to a federal grand jury.
