Chavez Sees Breakthrough in Grape Contract Signings
Coachella Valley table grape growers Kelvin Keene Larsen and Cecil Larsen signed the fourth and fifth contracts with the United Farm Workers Organizing Committee after workers at their farms voted 146 to 2 for union representation. UFOC director Cesar Chavez said the five contracts mark a major breakthrough after more than four years of strike and boycott activity.
