Swimming Fee Cut for Children Asked
Competitive swimming programs sponsored by the city should be increased but fees lowered. Dr. Barbara H. Kalbus urged reducing children's admission from 25 cents to 10 cents while adults stay at 50 cents. Commissioners noted school pool fees are set by the Board of Education and directed an office review. They also approved plans for a new swimming lagoon between Alamitos and Magnolias avenues and denied a water skiing tournament at Marine Stadium but will seek a later date. A 1967-68 budget of 1,771,183 dollars plus 84,421 for new programs was approved for submission.

Foreman Harry O’Neill notes crews handle 300 miles of curbs and alleys with limited manpower, leading to an 18 day cycle to clear the freeway.
