Commander of eight ship squadron 24 reports training one third of its 2000 men en route to Viet Nam and notes protracted barrage activity from November to February. The unit fired over 12000 rounds and damaged 807 structures while killing an estimated 70 Viet Cong and destroying 41 junks and two bridges. The ships returned home after sailing via the Suez Canal and Mediterranean, possibly the first circumnavigation by a destroyer squadron.
