Miami Marlins Sign Virgil Trucks and Release Satchel Paige
The Miami Marlins announced on Monday night they signed veteran pitcher Virgil Trucks and gave an unconditional release to colorful righthander Satchel Paige. Trucks, 2-1 as a relief pitcher for New York last year, turned down several big league offers to join Miami. Paige was a chronic problem for the club with flight tardiness and accusations the team owed him money, and his release frees him to sign with any club. Paige has been pursuing acting in Hollywood.
