Political data OKd in Brown suit
A Los Angeles Superior Court judge admitted political material into evidence in a case accusing Secretary of State Edmund G. Brown Jr. of using office for politics. The intro to a ballot handbook, Brown’s energy plan, and proposals to tax windfall oil profits were deemed admissible as part of the campaign context. Brown proposes an excess profits tax, a California energy corporation, and strict regulation of private oil firms.
