Long Beach announces Rafferty for U S Senate with a local headquarters at 4067 Long Beach Blvd. The opening listed Donald E. Randall as campaign chair with Mrs J William Thompson and Mrs Kenneth Garrison in leadership roles. Office hours are 10 a m to 4 p m Monday through Friday with contact for volunteers. Joel Kane of the Writers Guild of America will preside at the ceremony as part of campaign events surrounding Eugene McCarthy.

Fishin Hole Now a City Park in Harbor Lake Area
At Harbor Lake near Pacific Coast Highway and Vermont Ave a group of boys and others fish from the muddy edge. Lifeguard Bill Hinkle notes the area is now a city park swimming and fishing spot open year round. He recalls dangers of the old mud hole and says the lake drawing crowds on hot days. The kids use bread dough on hooks to catch carp and catfish, with occasional crayfish, locally called crawdads.
