Al Stewart: A Thinking Fan's Rock Singer Explores Life
Al Stewart, born in Scotland and raised near a seaside town, has drawn fans with Year of the Cat a charting hit for six months. The self taught lyricist blends history literature and gourmet life with songs that use ships planes and other imagery to express emotion while travels keep him on the road in motel rooms. He cites Vonnegut as a lyrical influence and notes life in Los Angeles and New York as pivotal, while remaining focused on creating music and maintaining youthful energy on tour.
