AEC lowers estimated Delta flight radiation exposure
The Atomic Energy Commission said new studies show 130 Delta passengers exposed to far less radiation than first believed. Highest possible dose across flights 585 and 311 would be under 20 roentgens, with earlier estimates revised downward after reviewing iridium 192 leaks from a Baton Rouge shipment. Authorities continue to investigate handling at Washington National, Atlanta, and Baton Rouge airports.
