Reagan Defends Jet Use Against Nit Picking Critics
Sacramento reports an irked Gov. Reagan blasted what he called nit picking harassment over use of his newly leased jet. He defended state funds and personnel for his statewide campaign to back a tax and spending ballot measure, noting similar tactics by Gov. Brown for Water Project bonds. Reagan criticized Sen. Howard Way’s attempt to restrict the jet’s out of state flights and disclose trip details, insisting he won’t yield to such demands. The state leased the jet for nearly $200,000 a year after security concerns and prior reliance on commercial or chartered flights.
