Cuban refugees find new start in Anaheim
The Rojas family and 50 other Cuban refugees landed in Los Angeles area Monday, seeking a new life away from Fidel Castro. Jorge Rojas, his wife Mirta and their son arrived at Anaheim’s address after fleeing Gardenas six months ago. They join about 2,000 Cuban refugees yearly, with Florida home to over 80,000. Rojas will work as a metal plater first, then pursue accounting as his English improves, embracing a future free of communist rule.
