Long Beach quake ordinance talks scheduled April 19
The city council ordinance committee will take up the proposed Long Beach earthquake ordinance at a special meeting on April 19. Negotiations between the city and Downtown Long Beach Associates are to be completed by then, with two DLBA meetings and a city attorney session already held. Despite progress, several major issues remain unresolved, and officials expect final discussions to wrap before the April 19 session. Army Pte. William W. Kirkpatrick, son of Mr and Mrs Edwin E Kirkpatrick of Torrance, has been killed in action in Southeast Asia, Defense Department reports.
