Volpe threatens to remove air controllers leaders
Transportation Secretary John A. Volpe vowed to remove organizers and others who intimidated workers during the three day air controllers strike. A FAA spokesman in New York said 880 of 2464 controllers who called in sick have returned, with traffic movement improving. Volpe urged returnees to be welcomed and accused leaders of misleading most workers. He said organizers and intimidators will be removed through due process.
