Heiress and Romeo Wed in North Carolina
A 68 year old justice of the peace presided over a five minute ceremony in North Carolina for Benedict Porumbeanu and Miss Gamble Benedict amid Life Magazine photographers. The couple, once thwarted in Dillon and New York, pursued a swift wedding with no family present, aiming for Paris originally after prior married attempts. Porumbeanu, a former chauffeur, and Miss Benedict faced legal and medical record issues but were deemed to meet requirements for a license. The ceremony concluded a hectic 24 hour sequence amid involvement from local officials and court observers.
