Education Focus Shifting Values in Higher Learning
Pepperdine University dean Robert Gordon urges a shift from pure intellectualism to personal values and activities in higher education. He cites studies on graduates valuing rights, welfare, and happiness through helping others, and calls for new programs including home study for retirees and an oceanographic course via newspaper distribution. He argues knowledge must serve social growth and that maturity comes from a personal drive to change.
